Diving into the ARM Revolution

While Apple confidently embraces the power of ARM technology, Microsoft appears a bit more reserved, still heavily anchored to its x86 roots. Even though they have introduced some ARM-based products, many feel like they're still in the experimental phase. Enter Gustave—a developer with a flair for the unconventional, who decided to challenge the status quo by running Windows on offbeat ARM platforms.

A Smartwatch Surprise: Running Windows on Pixel Watch 3

Gustave’s latest venture? Getting Windows up and running on the Pixel Watch 3, a smartwatch that typically relies on the closed-source Wear OS. With a determination that defies expectations, he unlocked the bootloader and ingeniously implemented workarounds to boot Windows by adding UEFI to the device.

However, just as he was making progress, Google's update to Android 15 complicated matters and thwarted some of his clever tweaks. Not one to back down, Gustave faked a kernel header, re-engineered UEFI, and successfully loaded Windows PE onto the watch. Talk about resilience!

A Hoax or a Hustle? The Truth Behind the Project

Despite being released on April 1—April Fool's Day—Gustave insists this project is very real, albeit a bit outrageous. He openly admits that he doesn’t actually recommend others follow suit but provides all the necessary tools for those daring enough to try running Windows on their smartwatch.

Will someone take up the challenge and document their experience? Only time will tell. In the meantime, for those inclined to tinker, plenty of other smartwatch options await their creative touch.
