In a stunning crackdown, Guelph police have arrested four individuals, seizing a staggering 60 firearms and over $20,000 worth of cocaine in a high-stakes investigation.
The drama unfolded last Tuesday in a parking lot in Guelph's west end, where authorities detained two men. Police discovered a trove of cocaine valued at approximately $23,100, alongside drug paraphernalia, 11 rounds of ammunition, and $2,750 in cash.
Among the detained is a 22-year-old from Brampton, who faces serious charges including possession with intent to distribute, trafficking a controlled substance, and unsafe storage of ammunition. His accomplice, a 30-year-old from Kitchener, is in hot water for similar trafficking charges, along with possession of crime proceeds, failing to comply with a judicial release order, and multiple probation violations.
The plot thickened on Wednesday when the Guelph Police Tactics and Rescue Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in rural Hamilton. What they uncovered was alarming: a male and female were found inside, and nearby were two loaded firearms.
A thorough search revealed:
* Approximately 60 firearms carelessly stored throughout the premises.
* Thousands of rounds of ammunition also improperly stored.
* An over-capacity magazine, a prohibited device.
* A 3D printer alongside a modified magazine produced by the printer.
* A bullet reloading press.
Both a 52-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman from Hamilton are now facing multiple charges, including careless use of firearms and unsafe storage.
All suspects have been held for bail hearings, as police continue to unravel the full extent of this worrying operation.
