In a harrowing incident that unfolded on the downtown campus of Toronto Metropolitan University, four pedestrians were struck by a speeding car in what police describe as a deliberate hit-and-run attack.

The chilling event took place on Nelson Mandela Way, a designated pedestrian walkway, around 2 p.m. Eyewitnesses report chaos as the vehicle, a green sedan with a smashed windshield, barreled down the path, targeting individuals in its path. Police speculate the suspect had a specific individual in mind but ended up injuring innocent bystanders as well.

Among the injured, two victims were rushed to the hospital—one suffering minor injuries and the other with serious but non-life-threatening wounds. Disturbingly, none of the victims were affiliated with the university, which magnifies the incident's frightening unpredictability.

Witnesses Recall the Terrifying Scene

Noor Almusa, a third-year politics and criminology student, vividly recounted the moment: 22I was just coming out of the building when two women started yelling at me to run and get out of the way.22 Panic ensued as pedestrians screamed and scattered to escape the rapidly approaching vehicle.

Another student, Isaac Meng, was nearby studying when he heard the bone-rattling crash. 22I saw one person lying on the ground, seemingly unconscious,22 he recalled, adding that the atmosphere among his peers was one of fear and disbelief.

Community on High Alert

Duty Inspector Todd Jocko reassured reporters that this appears to be an isolated incident and urged anyone with information about the suspect—who remains at large—to come forward. The assailant is believed to have fled the scene in the same green sedan with license plate DEDZ 565.
