A Game-Changing Opportunity for New Graduates
SINGAPORE – Attention all fresh graduates! The newly introduced Graduate Industry Traineeships (GRIT) program is your ticket to gaining invaluable industry experience while you search for full-time employment. Brought to you by the Ministry of Manpower and Workforce Singapore (WSG), GRIT opens doors to various sectors, helping you kickstart your career.
Two Tracks for Diverse Experiences
If you're keen on gaining experience in private organizations, GRIT is for you. There’s also GRIT@Gov, a special initiative aimed at placing graduates in public sector agencies. Together, these programs will initially offer up to 800 structured traineeships across several booming sectors, including finance, ICT, manufacturing, and wholesale trade.
Mark Your Calendars: Applications Open in October 2025!
Get ready! Applications for GRIT will officially open in October 2025. Make sure you register your interest at https://go.gov.sg/grit-trainee-interestform to be among the first to receive updates about when the program kicks off and available opportunities.
Who Can Apply?
Eligibility is broad and inclusive! If you’re a Singapore citizen or permanent resident graduating from the ITE, polytechnic, university, or even recognized international institutions in 2024 or 2025, you can apply. Graduates from previous years who completed their national service in those same years can also join the fun—same goes for those finishing up their degrees but receiving certification in 2026.
Even fresh graduates with master’s or PhD degrees, who haven’t landed full-time jobs yet, are welcome. However, those who graduated in 2023 or earlier might want to check out the Career Conversion Programme or job portals like MyCareersFuture and Careers@Gov.
Boost Your Skills and Employability!
These traineeships are designed to equip you with functional skills and vital work experience that can greatly enhance your employability. Building on the success of the SGUnited Traineeships (SGUT) scheme from the pandemic era, GRIT aims to facilitate longer-term employment opportunities post-traineeship.
Exciting Roles Await!
Expect a splendid array of roles from reputable companies in high-growth sectors, such as Grab, Micron, OCBC Bank, ST Engineering, and Sea. Details on GRIT@Gov roles will roll out in October 2025—stay tuned!
Your Pathway: Matching and Onboarding Process
Interested candidates should keep an eye on the MyCareersFuture portal for available positions. GRIT@Gov roles will also be posted on Careers@Gov, where you can apply directly to host organizations for selection.
Worried About Job Displacement? Here’s the Scoop!
You don’t need to fret. The GRIT traineeships are shorter and offer a lower allowance than programs aimed at mid-career workers. With allowances ranging from $1,800 to $2,400, rest assured that safeguards are in place to prevent any job displacement in overlapping roles.
Accepting Full-Time Offers While Traineeship?
Yes! If a full-time position comes your way during your traineeship, you can accept it—just ensure the traineeship is officially terminated first, as the two arrangements cannot overlap.
Exiting the Traineeship Early?
Need to leave before the program ends? You’re free to do so for valid reasons, like scoring that desired job. Just remember to provide ample notice to your host organization according to your training agreement.
What If You Don't Get a Full-Time Offer?
No worries! After wrapping up your traineeship, you may be offered a full-time position based on your performance. If not, you can still pursue other opportunities. Plus, support is just a click away through WSG’s Careers Connect or NTUC’s e2i career centres.
Stuck and Need Help? Resources Await!
If you find it tough to secure a traineeship after a few tries, don’t hesitate to seek assistance. Career support is available through Careers Connect and e2i career centres. Your dream job might just be around the corner!
