Tragic Morning: Motorcyclist and Pillion Rider Killed in BKE Collision

SINGAPORE: In a heart-wrenching accident early Tuesday morning, a motorcyclist and his pillion rider lost their lives on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). Authorities received an alert about the crash shortly after 5:40 AM, which involved a motorcycle colliding with two lorries en route towards the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) before the Kranji Expressway (KJE) exit.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that a 52-year-old male motorcyclist and a 41-year-old female pillion rider were tragically pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Footage revealing the aftermath circulated widely on social media, showing a stationary white lorry on the expressway. Bus operators like Tower Transit reported delays of up to 45 minutes on several routes, including services 171, 963, and 966, due to the extensive traffic jam on the BKE. Service 856 also faced delays of 15 to 20 minutes, while SBS Transit indicated that routes like 161, 168, and 138 were affected due to the ripple effect of the congestion.
