A Heartbreaking Incident
A family is grappling with unimaginable grief after a tragic incident claimed the life of a teenager in Langley. The collision occurred on November 4th at the intersection of 264 Street and Fraser Highway around 6:20 a.m., when a commercial truck struck a young pedestrian.
The victim has been identified as James, a bright 18-year-old who was on his way to work at the time of the accident. His cousin, Chris Dickson, expressed the family's anguish, stating, "While medical aid arrived quickly, his injuries were extensive and sadly he did not survive. My aunt and uncle are understandably devastated to have lost their youngest son so suddenly."
Investigation Underway
Authorities have stepped in to investigate the incident. Langley RCMP, alongside the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS)—a specialized unit responsible for forensic investigations of serious accidents—are at the scene. In addition, the commercial vehicle safety enforcement unit is also conducting a thorough examination due to the involvement of the commercial truck.
Remembering James
James had just completed his high school education and was preparing to embark on a new journey at the University of the Fraser Valley, where he intended to study business. Chris Dickson remembered James as a young man full of life and compassion, noting, "He was passionate about first aid, following in his mother’s footsteps, who volunteered with St. John Ambulance. He often accompanied her in volunteering at the Aldergrove Legion and enjoyed his time with Aldergrove Scouts, where his father led the group."
Community Support
In the wake of this tragic loss, friends and community members have rallied together to support the family. A GoFundMe campaign has been established in James’s honor, aiming to raise funds for both the family's immediate needs and to organize a celebration of his life. Remarkably, within just days, over $6,000 has been contributed, well surpassing the initial goal of $5,000.
