In a thrilling start to October, Super Mario Party Jamboree has rocketed to the top of Japan's gaming charts, selling an impressive 227,500 units in just the first two weeks since its release. This remarkable debut surpasses its predecessor, Mario Party Superstars, which sold 245,000 copies during the same period after launching on October 29, 2021.

The latest Famitsu report highlights that the Japanese gaming landscape is currently buzzing with new releases, particularly in the PlayStation 5 (PS5) sector. Among these is Metaphor: ReFantazio, a groundbreaking new intellectual property from Atlus that has already made waves, moving 133,000 copies across its PS5 and PS4 versions. This makes it the most successful new IP launch of 2024 so far!

The charts also feature Square Enix's return with Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, which collectively sold 115,000 copies on the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PS4. It impressively held two spots in the Top 10, sitting at No. 6 for Switch and No. 8 for PS5, while the PS4 edition came in at No. 20.

From a publisher perspective, Nintendo continues to reign supreme with a market share of 35.9%, generating revenues of approximately £3.6 billion ($23.3 million). Atlus saw a significant jump in its market standing, climbing from No. 16 to No. 2 with a 13.2% share and revenues of £1.3 billion ($8.4 million), thanks to the successful launch of Metaphor: ReFantazio.

The Nintendo Switch remains the best-selling platform in October, with a staggering 976,520 boxed games sold, dominating 64.4% of the total market share. Additionally, Nintendo's hardware sales soared as the Switch sold 242,466 units across its various models. In contrast, combined sales of both PS5 editions totaled just 47,615 units, showcasing Nintendo's powerful hold on the current market.
