A light earthquake shook the Lower Mainland near Maple Ridge Monday night, but don’t worry—most residents probably didn’t feel a thing!

The 2.6 magnitude quake struck approximately 9 kilometers northeast of Maple Ridge right before 9:30 p.m. While it registered on the Richter scale, experts from Earthquakes Canada assure that quakes of this magnitude rarely cause any damage.

According to Earthquakes Canada, earthquakes below a magnitude of 5.4 are typically harmless. "There are no reports of damage, and none were anticipated," they confirmed.

A few residents reported feeling the tremor, describing it as 'weak' to 'light.' Despite this minor seismic activity, the community remains unscathed.
