A Heartfelt Gathering for a Noble Cause

On Thursday, September 4, the End of Summer BBQ for Parkinson's PG took place at Canadian Tire, bringing the community together for a powerful cause. Hosted by store owner Selen Alpay, who courageously shared his personal battle with Parkinson’s disease, the event aimed to increase awareness and support for those affected by this challenging condition.

Sizzling Support: BBQ for a Purpose

The BBQ served up delicious hot dogs and hamburgers for donations, with attendees receiving gift cards as a token of appreciation for their generosity. This wasn't just about good food; it was about fueling a movement. Registrations for the upcoming Parkinson SuperWalk were also taken, a nationwide event set to take place on Saturday, September 6, at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park Pavilion.

Empowering the Community through Awareness

"This event is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness about Parkinson’s and promote the upcoming walk," said Shirley Bond, a dedicated member of Selen Alpay's fundraising team, Shaken Not Stirred. "It’s crucial for everyone to know they can help support research and provide essential resources for those impacted by this disease."

A Big Thank You to Our Sponsors!

With generous backing from Save-On Foods in Prince George and other local sponsors, the BBQ was a celebration of community spirit. Alpay expressed his gratitude, stating, "It’s overwhelming to see such a compassionate community rally together for this cause. The support has been absolutely mind-blowing!"

Together, We Can Make a Difference!

The funds raised for the Parkinson Society BC will not only sustain existing programs but will also expand advocacy efforts, foster innovative research, and spread hope to many living with Parkinson’s disease. With over 17,500 individuals affected in British Columbia, every contribution counts. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this noble cause at the SuperWalk!
