After more than two years in the making, the much-anticipated Keating Flyover is finally ready to roll! This game-changing addition to the Pat Bay Highway will open to the public on Monday, July 28. With a stunning investment of $76.8 million, this project is set to revolutionize travel in the region.

A Leap Toward Safer Travel

Transportation Minister Mike Farnworth highlighted the significance of this new infrastructure, stating, "People driving through this region need to be able to count on safe and smooth travel when they’re heading to their homes, work, the airport, or ferries." The flyover eliminates a notoriously dangerous left turn, ensuring safer journeys for everyone — from families to commercial drivers.

Still More Work Ahead!

While the flyover opens to vehicles, some finishing touches will continue throughout the summer and fall, including paving, drainage improvements, and landscaping. But don’t worry — these enhancements will only add to the efficiency and appeal of the new route!

Community Boost and Economic Growth

Lana Popham, the MLA for Saanich South, celebrated the flyover as a tremendous win for the Saanich peninsula. "This investment makes travel on this busy corridor safer and more reliable for families and commercial drivers alike, strengthening ties to our local businesses and supporting our region's growth," she said.

Funding Success!

This monumental project was funded collaboratively, with the B.C. government stepping up with the biggest share of $57.6 million, followed by $16.7 million from the federal government and $2.5 million from Central Saanich.

Over 52,000 Vehicles Served Daily!

Daily traffic is no joke on this stretch of the Patricia Bay Highway, with over 52,000 vehicles using it each day. The Keating Flyover is not just a road; it's a crucial link to the Keating Business District, vital for local commerce.
