One in Custody, Two Escape After Frightening Abduction Attempt
A dramatic scene unfolded in Mississauga as police confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with an attempted kidnapping that left two young women terrified. This incident, which occurred in late June, has raised alarms in the community.
On the night of June 24th, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the two women were strolling near Britannia Road West and Queen Street South when they were approached by three masked men. The assailants attempted to lure the victims into a light-colored Audi SUV, setting off a chain of events that would leave the community on edge.
According to authorities, things escalated quickly as the suspects allegedly chased the women, with reports suggesting that at least one of them may have been armed with a gun, while another wielded a knife.
Fortunately, a courageous passerby stepped in, intervening just in time to prevent what could have been a far worse situation. The suspects hastily made their escape in the Audi, retreating westward.
Police Crack Down: Arrest Made!
After a thorough investigation, police apprehended 26-year-old Waleed Khan from Etobicoke. He now faces an alarming 33 charges, spanning kidnapping, firearms offenses, and auto theft. During a raid at Khan’s residence, officers discovered two loaded, prohibited firearms.
Remarkably, at the time of his arrest, Khan was already on probation for previous violent crimes and prohibited from owning firearms. Now, he walks the streets again—this time fitted with an ankle monitor while his case moves through the legal system.
The Hunt Continues: Who Are the Other Suspects?
As the investigation progresses, police are on the hunt for two additional suspects described as Middle Eastern males in their late teens to mid-twenties, possessing a medium build. Authorities urge the public to stay vigilant—if anyone sees the suspects, do not engage; instead, call 911 immediately.
As of now, the Audi used in the alleged incident remains unaccounted for. Police are pleading with anyone who might have information about the suspects or the vehicle to step forward.
