After an extensive year-long renovation, the newly refreshed Zoe's lounge and restaurant at Château Laurier is set to enchant guests once more. The updates not only enhance the elegance of this historic downtown Ottawa hotel but also preserve the opulent charm that has made it a beloved landmark for over a century.

One striking feature of the reimagined space is its dramatic marble fireplace and open kitchen, allowing diners to witness the culinary magic in action. The design, brought to life by Calgary’s Frank Architecture and Interiors, modernized everything from plumbing to security, ensuring a luxurious experience that remains faithful to the hotel's castle-like architecture.

Introducing Zoe's: The Capital’s Social Hub!

Now showcasing a new identity as "Zoe’s: The Capital’s Social Place," the restaurant integrates lounge and dining areas to create an inviting atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the cozy oak-panelled reading lounge while basking in the regal splendor of the dining room that will once again serve high tea.

Among the plastered updates is a stunning marble bar that serves as the lounge's centerpiece, alongside a magnificent floor-to-ceiling marble fireplace outfitted with contemporary electric flames for ambiance without the smoke.

Live Music and the Return of a Masterpiece

A grand piano nestled in the dining room hints at the revival of live music, heralding back to the days when the landmark inn hosted renowned jazz musicians and crooners. General Manager Geneviève Dumas hints that more exciting details about live performances will be announced soon.

Adding to the allure of Zoe's is the return of the iconic Winston Churchill portrait, known as the Roaring Lion. This revered piece by famed photographer Yousuf Karsh—who once operated his studio within the hotel—has been returned to its rightful place, protected under Plexiglass after being stolen nearly three years ago.

Karsh and his wife, Estrellita, held a deep affection for the lounge, dedicating this piece to express their gratitude for the hotel’s hospitality during their time in Ottawa. Estrellita noted the lounge as a cherished space for joyful evenings shared with friends.
