A Fatal Collision Shakes Singapore

In a devastating turn of events on May 27, a driver lost his life in a collision involving two lorries on Singapore's Braddell Road, just before the Bishan Flyover.

The incident was reported around 2 PM, prompting a swift response from the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Emergency crews arrived to find two individuals trapped in their lorries, requiring hydraulic rescue equipment for extraction.

Tragically, the 36-year-old lorry driver, although initially conscious, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The other two individuals involved—a 59-year-old lorry driver and a 48-year-old passenger—were also hospitalized but are believed to be stable.

Traffic Chaos Ensues

The aftermath of the crash sent shockwaves through the area, resulting in severe traffic congestion along Braddell Road and Lornie Highway for hours on end. Traffic was further hampered by the closure of Lornie Viaduct, which lasted approximately six hours and only reopened around 8:40 PM.

Motorists were alerted to the closure at about 2:20 PM, but many faced delays as the congestion stretched all the way to Adam Road during peak hours. Traffic police were seen actively managing the situation, blocking access to the affected area.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident, leaving many questions unanswered as the community mourns the loss of the young lorry driver.
