During the Asean Strategic Policy Dialogue on Disaster Management, Law Minister Edwin Tong announced that the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is collaborating with local telecommunications providers to establish the Cell Broadcast System. This system aims to deliver urgent messages swiftly to those in affected areas, providing clear guidance on protective measures.

Enhancing Communication in Crises

Mr. Tong emphasized the crucial role of advanced communication technology in effective disaster management. "Prompt and timely communication is critical in emergencies," he stated. This initiative adds to Singapore’s existing Public Warning System, which includes sirens and the SCDF’s myResponder App—an app designed to alert the public about nearby emergencies like fires or cardiac arrests.
