In a groundbreaking move, researchers from five British universities are diving into uncharted territory with the launch of the Synthetic Human Genome Project (SynHG), backed by a substantial $12.6 million grant from the Wellcome Trust, the UK's largest biomedical charity. Announced recently, this ambitious five-year initiative is spearheaded by renowned molecular biologist Jason W. Chin in Cambridge, aiming to piece together an entire human chromosome from scratch.
