Ninja Van Slashes 12% of Workforce in Bold Restructuring Move

In a significant shake-up of its operations, logistics firm Ninja Van has announced it will be laying off around 12% of its workforce in Singapore. This decision comes as the company grapples with ongoing global logistics challenges and fierce competition across Southeast Asia.

The company emphasized that these layoffs were not made lightly, stating that the strategic restructuring was essential for bolstering its business model and promoting sustainable growth. Despite efforts to minimize the impact, Ninja Van acknowledged that it was unable to avoid the job cuts.

This latest round of layoffs follows previous cuts in April and July last year, which also affected teams in Singapore. Ninja Van is now focusing on streamlining its headquarters to better cater to vital growth areas, such as tech-driven business-to-business logistics and cold chain services.

In a bid to support those affected, Ninja Van will provide severance packages in line with industry guidelines, ensuring that employees with two or more years of service receive their due benefits. Even those with less than two years will not be left empty-handed.

To help ease this turbulent transition, the company will extend medical insurance and mental health support until the end of the year and offer a generous one-year window for vested employee stock options.

Ninja Van is also taking proactive steps to assist impacted employees, considering them for redeployment within its growth sectors and providing career transition support, including outplacement networking and recommendation letters.

As the logistics landscape evolves, Ninja Van aims to remain agile and competitive, ensuring it is well-positioned for the future.
