Weighing in at a mere 540 grams without accessories and 630 grams equipped, the Nikon ZR is a trailblazer in the realm of lightweight cinema cameras. Its compact design makes it the smallest model in the new Z CINEMA lineup, setting it apart from competitors like the Canon EOS C50 and Sony FX2.

Powerful Technology at Its Core

At the heart of the ZR is the advanced EXPEED 7 image-processing engine, the powerhouse behind the flagship Nikon Z9. This robust system leverages deep learning technology, allowing for superior subject detection and tracking, effortlessly recognizing up to nine different types of subjects such as people, animals, and vehicles.

With dual ISO sensitivities (800 and 6400) and an impressive 15+ stops of dynamic range, you can expect stunning, noise-free footage in various lighting conditions.

Cinema-Grade Features Designed for Creators

Engineered for videographers, the ZR includes 5-axis image stabilization to counteract the shakes that come with handheld shooting. It supports 12-bit RAW recording in 6K at up to 59.94p, as well as 4K Ultra HD at a blistering 119.88 fps. Plus, adjust shutter angles from 5.6 to a full 360 degrees to suit any shooting style.

The Nikon ZR also shines in audio capabilities, offering the world’s first 32-bit float audio recording via a 3.5mm jack. With built-in microphones supported by Nokia's OZO Audio technology, the camera captures exceptional sound quality for film.

Remarkably Efficient and Versatile

Despite its size, the ZR is designed for efficient heat dissipation, providing approximately 95 minutes of shooting on a single charge. For uninterrupted filming, it supports USB-C Power Delivery, extending functioning up to 125 minutes under 6K settings—ideal for weddings, concerts, and interviews.

Harnessing RED’s Color Science

The new ZR also benefits from RED’s cinematic expertise. Featuring the R3D NE video codec and Log3G10 for HDR formats, it enables creators to capture exquisite colors in additional REDWideGamutRGB space. Nine pre-set CineBias imaging recipes offer unique, stylish looks for different shooting scenarios.

In the age of fast-paced editing, the ZR supports Frame.io C2C connectivity, streamlining uploads to the cloud through the NX MobileAir app available on both iOS and Android—a game-changer for content creators.

While specific pricing and availability details are still under wraps, pre-orders are already being accepted for $2,196.95 (body only) at the notable American retailer B&H. Various lens kits are also available, with starting prices ranging from $2,496.95 to $2,846.95.
