A shocking incident unfolded in Hougang as a 22-year-old man is set to face charges for allegedly slashing another man and injuring three police officers, all while shockingly unclothed. This wild scene has left residents and authorities stunned.

The chaos erupted on April 17 when police received emergency calls reporting a naked individual wreaking havoc at the car park near blocks 676 and 677 of Hougang Avenue 8. Eyewitnesses saw this man vandalizing parked vehicles before he suddenly turned violent.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect first damaged a parked car and then launched an unprovoked attack on a 30-year-old man with a knife. The chaos escalated as he subsequently picked up a wooden plank embedded with nails, using it to cause further destruction to a stationary bus on Hougang Avenue 4.

When police officers arrived on the scene to apprehend him, the man lashed out at them with the makeshift weapon, resulting in minor injuries to three officers. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old victim suffered injuries to his arm and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The 22-year-old suspect is expected to be formally charged with voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons, a serious offense that could lead to imprisonment of up to seven years, along with fines and caning.

Amid the chaos, one courageous local citizen emerged as a hero. Mr. Shari Mohd will receive the Public Spiritedness Award for his brave act of protecting the victim and his young son by quickly moving them away from the dangerous scene. Police praised Mr. Shari's timely intervention, stating it transformed a potentially fatal confrontation into a manageable one.

"Mr. Shari's courageous actions exemplify the strong community spirit that helps keep everyone safe," remarked Assistant Commissioner of Police Xie Xingmao.
