SINGAPORE'S DRAMA SCENE GETS A COMEDIC TWIST

In a delightful turn of events, Singapore’s favorite show, Mediacorp’s Mandarin drama "Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story," recently concluded its run on Netflix and mewatch, leaving fans eager for more. But just when you thought the drama was over, three of Singapore's funniest radio personalities jumped right in to keep the laughter rolling.

COMEDIANS DRESS TO IMPRESS… AND AMUSE!

Mark Lee, Dennis Chew, and Marcus Chin, co-hosts of the popular radio program "The Breakfast Quartet," donned vibrant sarong kebayas for a hilarious parody of the show. This cheeky tribute pays homage to the beloved series, which originally aired from 2008 to 2009.

A STAR-STUDDED PARODY ON INSTAGRAM!

On April 15, the trio released a viral video titled "Pearl Hill Episode 1" on Instagram, followed by a follow-up, "Pearl Hill Finale" on April 21. In this comedic reenactment, Lee portrays the lead character, Zhang Xinniang, with Chew stepping into the shoes of her scheming rival Zhang Anna, while Chin channels matriarch Liu Xiuniang.

FAMILY DRAMA OR RADIO DRAMA?

Instead of delving into the tangled web of relationships typical of the Zhang family, Lee's version opens dramatically with an accusation against Chew for disloyalty by working for a rival station, Yes 933. Chin hilariously intervenes to stop the escalating feud.

WHAT’S BETTER THAN A GOOD FIGHT?

As the parody heats up in the finale, Lee and Chew's rivalry intensifies over a love interest portrayed by Zhang Zetong. In a comical twist, Lee cheekily calls Chew 'Ne Zha'—a reference to a popular mythical figure, citing Chew’s double bun hairstyle reminiscent of the character.

LAUGHTER ENSUES WITH A COMIC TWIST!

In a scene-stealing moment, Chin hilariously reveals marriage plans for both men, matched with personalities from another radio station, sparking genuine laughter and bonding among the hosts. This lighthearted rivalry has left fans in stitches, with cast members from "Emerald Hill" expressing their delight through laughter emojis!

EMERALD HILL SHINES ON!

Since its premiere on March 10, "Emerald Hill" has captivated audiences, consistently ranking among the top 10 most-watched series on Netflix Singapore. Thanks to Lee, Chew, and Chin's humorous take, the series continues to inspire laughter and love within the local entertainment scene.
