In a tragic incident that has rocked the community, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his deep condolences to the family and friends of Lim Foong Mei, an elderly woman who succumbed to her injuries after being the victim of a snatch theft in Bangsar. Lim, 78, passed away today, leaving behind a community saddened by the senseless violence.

In an emotional post on Facebook, Fahmi, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai, shared his heartfelt sympathies. He mentioned his visit to Lim at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, where she was recovering after the horrifying incident occurred on October 7. During his visit, he was accompanied by ACP Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood, the Brickfields district police chief, who has been involved in addressing such criminal acts in the area.

Fahmi wrote, "Heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Lim Foong Mei, the victim of a snatch theft incident on Jalan Limau Manis, Bangsar, in October. May her family find the strength to face this difficult time."

The unfortunate incident unfolded at approximately 6:30 AM on October 7 when a motorcyclist brazenly snatched Lim's handbag, leading to a tragic fall that left her lying motionless on the road. Eyewitness accounts describe how passersby rushed to her side within minutes, attempting to provide assistance and calling for help.

Following the incident, Lim was immediately transported to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for further treatment and observation.
