Tensions soared on Thursday, January 9, when a volunteer from the People's Action Party (PAP) unveiled explosive footage capturing confrontations with members of the Progress Singapore Party (PSP). This incident has ignited a fierce debate regarding alleged harassment between the two political factions.

The saga unfolded last Saturday when PSP accused PAP volunteers of tailing them during a community visit in Bukit Gombak. Adding fuel to the fire, Ms. Low Yen Ling, MP for Chua Chu Kang Group Representation Constituency, took to Facebook to address these serious allegations.

In a surprising twist, a Facebook user named Azman Ibrahim posted two eye-catching videos. The first clip shows a PSP member, clad in party colors, attempting to snap a selfie with him, which quickly escalates into a brief but heated scuffle. At one point, a statement in the video claims, “I got slapped as he walked past me," with the ominous caption declaring: "They got physical."

In yet another riveting clip, a woman in white is surrounded by individuals wearing PSP shirts. Upon realizing they are being filmed, one of the PSP members attempts to confront the camera, leading to a chaotic sequence that ends with PSP flyers obscuring the lens. This video was aptly captioned “hit by flyers.”

Responding to these shocking events, CNA reached out to PSP for their perspective but has yet to receive a reply.

Notably, Azman identified himself as "Male Volunteer 1," referenced by Ms. Low in her Facebook post. She disclosed that he suffered two slaps – one in a lift and another in a hallway – alongside derogatory insults hurled at him.

In an emotional reaction, Mr. Azman expressed his turmoil over the hostility faced not just by him but also by his family, who have been targeted online due to the escalating tensions. “I felt compelled to share these videos as my family and I have been deeply hurt and disturbed by the misrepresentation of events,” he revealed. “I simply wanted to support my fellow volunteers, and seeing a female volunteer surrounded heightens my concern.”

With a police report now filed, both parties hope this incident can be thoroughly investigated, putting an end to the troubling narrative surrounding this political standoff. As the situation develops, citizens are left anxiously awaiting the outcome of this fierce political rivalry.
