SINGAPORE: Exciting developments are on the horizon for residents of Marsiling and Yew Tee as Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced an extensive town masterplan that promises new community spaces, parks, and enhanced connectivity. Speaking at the launch of the Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Five-Year Masterplan (2025–2030) at Yew Tee Square, PM Wong emphasized that while these projects will take time, they will ultimately reshape the community for the better.

The masterplan aims to build upon the strides made in the constituency over the past five years. Among the most significant updates is the ongoing redevelopment of the Kranji Racecourse site, which will see the area transformed into vibrant residential and recreational spaces. Additionally, major renovations are planned for the Woodlands Checkpoint, with completion expected by 2032.

Highlighting the initiatives aimed at enhancing residents' lives, PM Wong noted the promise of two new MRT stations along the Downtown Line, set to open in 2035. These stations will significantly reduce travel times to the city by up to 30 minutes, reflecting the government's commitment to improving transport accessibility.

Mr. Wong also introduced various projects that aim to be completed within five years. By the close of next year, residents can expect to utilize the new Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System, enhancing cross-border travel. Adding to the area's natural beauty, a new Mandai Mangrove and Mudflat Nature Park is also anticipated to be one of the largest nature reserves in Singapore.

The Heart of Yew Tee Integrated Development is set to become a community hub by 2027, comprising a polyclinic, a hawker centre, and housing for the elderly. These facilities will create a more connected and vibrant community for all residents.

Over the past five years, significant progress has already been made, according to local representatives. Initiatives like the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme and Home Improvement Programme have benefited tens of thousands of households, providing upgrades that enhance the quality of life and accessibility for all.

Marsiling-Yew Tee is also approaching a significant milestone, marking ten years since it was formed in 2015. PM Wong expressed pride in the positive changes witnessed in the community, noting the joy of watching families grow and thrive over the decade.

As this year's general election approaches, the political landscape remains active, with the opposition Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) confirming its intent to contest in the constituency. Local MP Alex Yam remarked that healthy competition is beneficial for democracy, setting the stage for a spirited electoral contest.
