Crocodile Sighting in Lim Chu Kang

In a surprising turn of events, a crocodile was spotted lounging on the road in Lim Chu Kang, Singapore, on March 18, prompting a swift response from the National Parks Board (NParks).

Initial Discovery

Around 6:40 PM, a Facebook user known as Mr. Koo shared two intriguing photos of the reptile in the Singapore Wildlife Sightings group, humorously labeling it as 'someone’s pet lizard sunbathing on the road.' However, the reality was quite different. Mr. Koo reported that he had initially encountered the crocodile around 1 PM on Neo Tiew Crescent, close to the Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm.

NParks Response

'It seemed like it came from Sungei Buloh,' Mr. Koo recounted, noting that in the busyness of his day, he merely captured a photo before continuing on his way.

In response to public inquiries, NParks confirmed that they were immediately alerted to the sighting on the evening of March 18 and dispatched a team to locate the crocodile. 'We will continue the search tomorrow morning,' NParks reported, reinforcing their commitment to ensuring the safety of the public and the animal alike.

Public Safety Reminder

For those in the area, NParks has issued an important reminder to remain calm if encountering a crocodile. 'Please do not approach, provoke, or feed the animal,' they warned, as such interactions could be dangerous. The public is encouraged to stay back and contact NParks at 1800-476-1600 with any animal sightings or encounters.

Crocodiles in Singapore

Interestingly, crocodiles are not uncommon in Singapore, especially in regions close to wetlands. They are typically found in protected areas like Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, but sightings in urban areas can be alarming. Efforts are constantly made to monitor these creatures and ensure they remain in their natural habitats.

Conclusion

As the search continues, locals are advised to keep a watchful eye and report any further sightings of the elusive reptile. Could this be a wake-up call for wildlife safety awareness in urban areas? Stay tuned for updates!
