This December, the much-anticipated IMBA Theatre will welcome its first visitors, promising a thrilling new destination for art and entertainment enthusiasts. Catering to large-scale, immersive experiences, this innovative venue will not only feature a dynamic black box theatre but also a spacious gallery and a variety of retail and dining options.

IMBA, which stands for "immersive media-based arts," aims to push the boundaries of creativity by leveraging cutting-edge digital and media technologies. This means visitors can expect a feast for the senses, with interactive exhibitions, live performances, and vibrant cultural showcases that bring art to life like never before.

What Can You Expect?

The Gallery Space will be a significant highlight, stretching over 12,500 square feet, where guests can expect to see both traditional and mixed-media art exhibits. The IMBA Theatre is set to kick off with "The Botero Show in Singapore," featuring the works of Colombian artist Fernando Botero, who is known for his distinctive and larger-than-life sculptures that currently adorn various locations in Singapore.

Additionally, visitors will be treated to a showcase by local muralist Yip Yew Chong, celebrated for his nostalgic murals that evoke memories of kampung life and traditional occupations. His works have become an integral part of Singapore's urban landscape, providing a visual narrative of its heritage.

Moreover, IMBA Theatre is partnering with Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Design & Media to curate and develop engaging content for the venue, ensuring a perpetually fresh and inspiring experience for all.

Michael Lee, CEO of H&B— the edutainment group behind the Theatre—shared his vision, stating, "IMBA Theatre is more than just a venue; it's a transformative space designed to inspire wonder and encourage audiences to forge deeper connections with the arts and their surroundings. Our goal is to create a portal for imaginative encounters that blend technology, artistic creativity, and impactful storytelling, showcasing both local talent and global artistry. This initiative affirms our commitment to establishing Singapore as a leading cultural hub on the world stage."

With its opening just around the corner, the IMBA Theatre promises to be a thrilling attraction that successfully merges tradition with innovation, carving a unique niche in Singapore’s vibrant arts scene.
