From January 8 to February 27, 2025, the iconic streets of Chinatown will sparkle with color and vibrancy, hosting what is sure to be the ultimate Chinese New Year extravaganza.

The Chinatown Festival Committee has unveiled this year’s theme, “Ushering Fortune and Unity for a Prosperous New Year.” This poignant theme encapsulates the collective desire for a year brimming with joy, harmony, and prosperity.

A Dazzling Display Awaits

Chinatown is famed for its stunning decorations during the festive season, and 2025 promises an even more spectacular visual feast.

Expect the streets to dazzle with an eye-catching array of lanterns and decorations adorning New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, South Bridge Road, and Upper Cross Street.

Attendees can delight in the festive sounds of firecrackers, marveling at illuminated trees draped in colorful lanterns and glittering golden ingots, which are sure to elevate the celebratory spirit.

A majestic eight-meter tall 'Tree of Fortune' will stand as a centerpiece, symbolizing abundance and renewal as the year unfolds.

A Celebration of Community and Culture

As the opening ceremony approaches, Minister Josephine Teo emphasized the cultural significance of the event.

She stated that these celebrations are an endearing tradition that unites families, friends, and the broader community, welcoming the Chinese New Year with open arms.

“This year’s theme reminds us of the importance of strengthening familial and community bonds as we embark on a hopeful journey into the new year,” she noted.

Additionally, Ms. Lim Shoo Ling, Director of Segment Marketing & Visitor Experience at the Singapore Tourism Board, expressed her excitement by describing the upcoming light displays and local performances as a 'captivating showcase' of Singapore’s rich cultural heritage.
