Preliminary investigations by Sport Singapore (SportSG) reveal that the injury resulted from a violation of safety protocols when a third participant irresponsibly loaded a bow in the spectator gallery, causing a stray arrow to be released.

Young Archers Affected

The unfortunate incident involved three young archers, all aged between 17 and 20. Thankfully, the two injured individuals sustained only minor cuts, which did not require stitches, allowing them to receive treatment from on-site paramedics and swiftly return to their pursuits.

SportSG, which had implemented various safety measures including pre-event briefings, expressed their concern over the breach. A spokesperson reiterated the organization’s dedication to safety, stating, "An incident occurred during a scheduled break, caused by a breach of safety protocols. Immediate medical assistance was provided, and the competition was promptly paused to reassess safety measures."
