In an exciting update for avid gamers and tech enthusiasts, Google has unveiled full gaming support on Android Auto, allowing drivers to indulge in popular titles such as Candy Crush Soda Saga and Angry Birds 2 directly from their car’s touchscreen. This feature is now part of the beta rollout for Android 14.1, which is gradually being made available to testers.

Currently, only four games are supported, which include Candy Crush, Angry Birds, Farm Heroes Saga, and Beach Buggy Racing. To enjoy these games on your vehicle’s display, users must first have the games installed on their smartphones. Importantly, these gaming options can only be used when the car is stationary, ensuring safety while on the road. Tests conducted by tech site 9to5Google indicate that upon shifting the vehicle out of park, the game closes immediately, rendering it unavailable in app layouts.

This marks a groundbreaking enhancement to Android Auto, as it is the first time fullscreen apps are being introduced to the platform. While the potential for expanding this feature to include more app categories remains uncertain, its current focus on gaming positions Android Auto as a serious contender in the in-car entertainment landscape, similar to systems with Google built-in, which already support a wider variety of games.

The announcement of gaming support was part of Google’s March feature drop, creating a buzz among users eager to take advantage of this new capability. However, the timeline for when this feature will transition from beta to a full release is still under wraps.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first foray into gaming for Android Auto. Back in 2021, Google introduced a handful of simple HTML5 games through its GameSnacks service, but the current update elevates the gaming experience to a whole new level by supporting widely recognized mobile games.

As the popularity of in-car gaming continues to rise, enthusiasts are left wondering: what other innovative features will Google introduce next? Keep an eye on future updates for more thrilling enhancements to your driving experience!
