In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing conflict, Ukrainian drones have targeted the luxurious Foros resort in annexed Crimea, resulting in significant damage and multiple casualties. The strike, according to the head of Crimea's Russian-backed administration, has left three individuals dead and injured at least sixteen others.

The Foros Sanatorium, known for its opulence and proximity to several state dachas owned by Russia’s elite, was reportedly housing some "very important" guests at the time of the attack, as suggested by various Telegram channels. While Russia’s defense ministry has acknowledged the strike, they refrained from confirming who the intended target may have been.

Crimean Elite in the Crosshairs

Situated between Foros and the prominent resort city of Yalta, four state-owned summer residences have drawn the ire of Ukraine’s military forces. Investigative reports highlight that at least two of these properties are personally utilized by President Vladimir Putin.

Interestingly, the Foros Hall restaurant at the resort was closed on the day of the assault, reportedly for a private event, underscoring the high-profile nature of the venue.

In a separate operation, Ukraine’s military intelligence announced a groundbreaking achievement: the destruction of two Russian amphibious Be-12 Chayka aircraft, noted for their advanced systems used in anti-submarine warfare. This strike follows previous reports of Ukrainian forces taking out three Russian Mi-8 helicopters and a radar station in the region.

Civilian Targets Under Fire in Zaporizhzhia

Meanwhile, the situation remains dire in Zaporizhzhia, where Russian forces launched aerial bombardments on civilian and industrial areas, devastating residential buildings and prompting fiery chaos. At least three lives were claimed during these strikes, with Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional military administration, confirming that five bombs were dropped with civilian sites as intended targets.

Over 24 hours, the violence has escalated, culminating in at least eight fatalities and over twenty injuries due to Russian assaults.
