The Indian Consulate in Hong Kong highlighted that Margherita's visit allowed for meaningful exchanges with the Indian Diaspora, emphasizing the Indian government’s dedication to enhancing opportunities and support for Indians abroad.

Next Stop: Papua New Guinea

Looking ahead, MoS Margherita is set for a diplomatic trip to Papua New Guinea on September 16, where he will represent Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the celebrations of the country’s 50th anniversary of Independence.

Strengthening Pacific Ties

During his visit, he is expected to engage in crucial discussions with Papua New Guinea’s political leaders and the local Indian diaspora, further promoting India’s interests in the Pacific Islands after the landmark Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation Summit earlier in May.

Naval Friendship on Display

The backdrop of Margherita's visit is further enriched by the recent participation of the Indian Navy in Papua New Guinea’s Independence Day celebrations, showcasing the strengthening maritime partnership between the two nations. The Indian Navy's ASW Corvette INS Kadmatt arrived in Port Moresby to take part in the festivities, reaffirming the growing camaraderie and naval collaboration.
