Fast forward to late 2024, and geologists are buzzing with excitement—and concern—over fresh signs of volcanic activity. “Axial Seamount has suddenly woken up!” exclaimed William Chadwick, a geophysicist from Oregon State University, during a recent presentation.

According to current trends, experts believe that the volcano will reach its eruption threshold sometime between now and the end of 2025. This forecast has given rise to some electrifying anticipation as we wait to see what the depths have in store.
