Big Changes Are Coming for Google Pixel 10 Displays!

Exciting news for Pixel fans! A recent report reveals that Google is finally addressing a major complaint regarding the display quality of its Pixel phones. The upcoming Pixel 10 series is expected to deliver brighter screens and improve the pulse-width modulation (PWM) refresh rate on its Pro models, ushering in a new era of enhanced visibility.

What’s the PWM Buzz?

For the uninitiated, PWM is a technology that makes displays easier on the eyes by minimizing flickering. While many users might not even notice PWM issues, it can be significant for those sensitive to screen flicker. Previous Pixel models have faced criticism due to their lower PWM refresh rates, often leaving users wishing for better alternatives.

Pixel 10 Pro to Outshine with 480Hz PWM!

According to insider reports from Android Authority, the Pixel 10 Pro will feature a notable upgrade, boosting its PWM refresh rate from 240Hz in the Pixel 9 Pro to a remarkable 480Hz. Unfortunately, the base Pixel 10 and the intriguing Pixel 10 Pro Fold will remain at 240Hz. While it may seem modest, every improvement counts!

Brightness to Blazing Levels!

But that’s not all—this new series is also set to brighten your day! The standard Pixel 10 is projected to reach a 'declared' HDR brightness of 2,000 nits, up from 1,800 nits in its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 Pro and the Pro XL will shine even brighter, boasting peaks of 2,250 nits compared to 2,050 nits on the Pixel 9. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will also benefit, achieving 1,850 nits on its inner display and 2,050 nits on the external screen.

What Comes Next?

While these numbers are impressive, they are based on software declarations and actual brightness might vary in real use. Last year, Google claimed a peak brightness of 3,000 nits on the Pixel 9 Pro, so we might yet see even brighter screens in practical use. Still, these improvements reflect Google's ongoing commitment to keeping pace with competitors like Apple and Samsung.

Take it with a Grain of Salt!

As with any early rumors, caution is advised. The sources for these claims remain vague, and the reported advancements are merely anticipated features at this stage.

Stay Tuned for More!

Keep an eye out for more updates on the Pixel 10 series as Google nears its launch, including possible enhancements in macro photography through advanced telephoto capabilities and new chip partnerships.
