In a stunning display of skill and teamwork, the LA Kings overwhelmed the Edmonton Oilers with a decisive 5-0 victory Monday night at Rogers Place in Alberta, earning themselves home-ice advantage for the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Kings wasted no time asserting dominance, with forward Warren Foegele netting the first goal just three minutes into the game against his former team. A slap shot from Phillip Danault ricocheted off the endboards right to Foegele, who scored his 23rd of the season.

Midway through the first period, the Kings continued to capitalize on a power play. Adrian Kempe, stationed at the top of the circle, sent a wrist shot toward the net, which was deftly deflected by Quinton Byfield past Edmonton's goalie, Calvin Pickard. Byfield’s goal marked his fourth consecutive game scoring streak.

Before the first intermission, defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov rounded out the Kings' scoring with a beautiful play that saw him capitalizing on a pass from Trevor Moore. Gavrikov’s fifth goal of the season extended LA's lead to 3-0.

The Kings struck again in the second period with another power-play goal. Kempe facilitated again, this time feeding Kevin Fiala, who unleashed a thunderous one-timer into the net, marking Fiala's 35th goal of the season.

In the final period, Kempe and Anze Kopitar executed a slick 2-on-1 break, with Kempe finishing it off for his 34th goal, sealing the 5-0 victory and marking a superb individual performance with three points.
