Last week marked the highly anticipated release of GungHo's Lunar Remastered Collection, stirring excitement among fans of these beloved RPGs. However, the physical launch has turned into a nightmare for many collectors.

The game debuted exclusively on Amazon in the U.S. for $55, but without a pre-order option, eager fans were met with disappointment as they quickly encountered 'sold out' notifications.

Retailers across the board are feeling the pinch, with one team member from Nintendo Life reporting that a copy ordered from Play Asia was supposed to ship on launch day (April 18th) but is now stuck in limbo while the store waits for stock. Most North American retailers remain out of stock, while European copies linger on Amazon. In a twist, scalpers are capitalizing on the demand, with eBay listings reaching upwards of £120.

Recognizing the chaos, GungHo took to Twitter to address the situation, expressing gratitude for fan support and reassuring them that "restocks are on the way." This lack of stock appears to stem from a stark underestimation of demand for a title loved since its days on the SEGA CD and later on PS1.

With such a devoted following, it’s no surprise that fans want to add this shiny remaster to their collections. The frenzy surrounding its launch proves that Lunar's legacy is still alive and kicking!
