In a heartwarming and unique event, a couple in Alabama welcomed their baby boy into the world right in a Krispy Kreme parking lot during an unexpected winter storm. Sha’nya Bennett and Keon Mitchell were unable to reach the hospital due to the hazardous weather conditions, which left parts of the state buried under 11 inches of snow.

A Baby on the Way

As the couple found themselves stranded about a mile away from Flowers Hospital, the situation quickly escalated when Bennett felt urgent contractions. "I felt the baby’s head at the red light," Bennett recounted. "Once we got into the Krispy Kreme parking lot, I couldn’t stop pushing. Then I saw him sliding out, and I’m like, ‘Come grab him, come grab him!’" Their son, Dallas, was born just before paramedics could arrive on the scene.

A Sweet Gesture from Krispy Kreme

Despite the unusual circumstances, the couple was met with unexpected goodwill from the Krispy Kreme team. Even though the shop was closed due to the storm, the manager learned of their remarkable story and offered the family an incredible deal: a year’s supply of free doughnuts and a special birthday celebration for Dallas’s first birthday in January 2026. But that wasn't all — the doughnut giant took it up a notch.

A Birthday Party Every Year!

In a delightful twist, Krispy Kreme decided to throw a birthday party for Dallas every year until he is grown up! A spokesperson for the company announced, "Krispy Kreme is sweetening the family’s a-glaze-ing celebration." Furthermore, Dallas’s birth certificate is believed to mark the first instance of Krispy Kreme officially being listed as the “place of birth.”

Reflecting on the extraordinary experience, Bennett, who also has a five-year-old son, hailed herself as a "superwoman." Meanwhile, Mitchell expressed pride in how he managed the intense situation. "I really don’t know how I stayed calm because I was really scared," he shared. "I was scared too, but now I feel like I really could be a doctor now."
