A Reign of Terror Continues

In a shocking turn of events, Shakwan David Kelly, a 30-year-old man from Vancouver, has been charged with assaulting a peace officer after a disturbing encounter with Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) outside Waterfront Station. This escalation comes on the heels of a series of violent incidents, including a recent attack on a stranger and an assault on a supportive housing worker.

The Attack Unfolds

On August 27, while discussing Kelly's open drug use, an MVTP officer was suddenly attacked by Kelly, who viciously charged at him, landing blows to the officer’s face and body. The officer sustained minor injuries and required hospital treatment.

A Dangerous Escape

In a dramatic moment, officers deployed a taser on Kelly, but it failed to subdue him. He managed to flee the scene, only to be apprehended moments later with assistance from transit security and the Vancouver police.

A Troubled Past

Kelly's violent history paints a troubling picture. On July 16, he was sentenced to 11-and-a-half months in jail after pleading guilty to multiple charges including assault, uttering threats, and breaching a release order. With time served, he had just 39 days left to complete his sentence.
