Valtteri Bottas is far from hanging up his racing gloves. The seasoned driver has made it clear: he’s not finished with Formula 1 yet, and he has "more to give" to the exhilarating world of racing.
After losing his race seat for the 2025 season when Kick Sauber revamped their driver line-up, Bottas found himself in a reserve role with Mercedes. However, he’s eyeing a comeback for 2026, which coincides with new technical regulations set to shake things up in the sport.
On the Beyond The Grid podcast, the 35-year-old champion expressed his ardent desire to be back in a full-time race seat. "I’m currently without a race seat, but that's not by choice," he stated. Bottas reiterated his enduring passion for racing, saying, "Watching from the sidelines has intensified my longing to compete. I’m ready to return to the grid."
Bottas reflected on the past two years, admitting that his recent performances have reignited his desire to push forward. "I haven’t felt any degradation in my abilities yet. I just want to keep racing!" he emphasized.
In an intriguing turn of events, Bottas has been linked to Cadillac's entry into F1, a venture backed by automotive powerhouse General Motors. The American team is gearing up to make its debut next year, and Bottas believes his experience could significantly benefit this fresh-faced operation.
"They’ve been extremely busy getting ready for the grid next year, and I think I’m in a good position to be considered," Bottas noted, while keeping an upbeat perspective on the future.
He views Cadillac's entry as an exciting project, one that introduces a new perspective to the sport. "Starting from scratch would allow me to influence the team’s direction and strategies, which is both motivating and thrilling if we achieve success together," he added.
With the rule changes on the horizon, Bottas sees a golden opportunity for any team that gets it right from the start. Could Cadillac be the next big thing in F1? If Bottas has his way, he’ll be leading the charge.
