In a devastating turn of events, a 36-year-old man from Ayr has lost his life, and a 31-year-old Goderich resident is fighting for his life following a horrific two-vehicle crash in South Huron early Saturday morning.
Around 5:30 a.m., emergency services rushed to the scene at the intersection of Hwy 4 and Huron Park Road in Centralia. The wreck involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger van, with both victims tragically inside the van.
Initially, Hwy 4 from Crediton Road to Mount Carmel Drive was closed to facilitate rescue and investigation efforts, but it has since reopened to traffic.
The Huron County OPP is actively investigating the incident, with the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team joining the inquiry. At this stage, no charges have been filed.
This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of our roadways. The community is left mourning the loss of one life and praying for the recovery of another.
