KYIV, Ukraine - In a startling turn of events, Ukrainian troops have reportedly engaged in combat with North Korean soldiers deployed to support Russia in its ongoing war against Ukraine. This announcement by Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov marks the first confirmed encounter between the two nations' military units, amidst a conflict that is nearing its 1,000-day mark.

In an intensifying military landscape, Ukrainian forces conducted artillery strikes on North Korean troops stationed in Russia's Kursk region. While neither side has provided independent verification of the exchange, Umerov emphasized that this “small-scale” fighting signifies Pyongyang's direct involvement in the European theatre, the largest conflict since World War II.
