A Disturbing Incident in Markham

In a shocking turn of events, a 12-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident that left a man injured in Markham last month.

The Shooting Unfolds

On August 14, at approximately 5:20 PM, York Regional Police received multiple reports of gunfire in the vicinity of McCowan Road and 14th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds, who was promptly transported to the hospital with injuries that, thankfully, were not life-threatening.

Young Suspect Taken into Custody

Fast forward to September 2, and authorities laid hands on the young suspect—a 12-year-old boy—who was arrested by detectives after an extensive investigation. This troubling case has raised significant concerns about youth involvement in violent crime.

Charges Pile Up Against the Minor

The charges against the boy are serious and include attempted murder, intent to discharge a firearm, and possession of property obtained through criminal means. Disturbingly, at the time of the shooting, the minor was already under release orders for prior violent offenses.
