Nadir Mohamed, the influential business titan and former President and CEO of Rogers Communications, has tragically passed away.

With a career spanning over two decades at Rogers, Mohamed took the helm as CEO from March 2009 until December 2013, leaving an indelible mark on the telecommunications landscape.

A respected figure in the business community, he served as chair of Alignvest Management Corp. and was a director at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board until last year. In 2019, he was recognized with the prestigious Order of Canada for his significant contributions to the nation.

His commitment to fostering innovation was unwavering; he played a pivotal role in Canada’s entrepreneurship scene and was a founding member of the Vector Institute's Board of Directors, serving from its inception on February 9, 2017, until September 25, 2024. Alan Veerman, chief operations and finance officer, expressed the community’s gratitude, stating that Nadir’s absence will be deeply felt.

Joining Rogers in August 2000, he quickly ascended the ranks, leading Rogers Wireless from 2001 to 2005 before taking on greater responsibilities as President and COO of the larger Rogers Communications Group.

Beyond his corporate successes, Mohamed's legacy is marked by his engagement with various community organizations, tirelessly advancing the cause of innovation in Canada.

John Ruffolo, founder and managing partner of Maverix Private Equity, encapsulated the sentiment of many when he said, "Nadir possessed a rare combination of deep intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and humility that will be sorely missed."

As we reflect on his remarkable career and lasting impact, Nadir Mohamed will be remembered not just as a business leader, but as a visionary who shaped the future of Canadian entrepreneurship.
