Unlock Vital Health Services Right in Your Community This April! 🚀
Did you know Ottawa's Neighbourhood Health and Wellness Hubs (NHWH) are transforming public health accessibility? Partnering with the City of Ottawa, these hubs provide a variety of critical services tailored to meet the needs of local residents — and at no cost!
Here’s What You Can Expect at Your Local NHWH:
- Vaccination Services: Get up-to-date with essential vaccinations, including COVID-19 and flu shots designed for eligible high-risk individuals. Are you a newcomer without Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) or a parent with children under 2? NHWH has you covered!
- Dental Screenings: Keep those pearly whites shining with free dental check-ups for residents.
- Parenting Support: Join our Parenting in Ottawa Drop-Ins to connect with others and get valuable information.
- Chronic Disease Screening: Screenings for conditions like diabetes are available, promoting early detection and better management.
- Employment and Social Services: Access support that can help you navigate job opportunities and social services effectively.
- Aging Well in Ottawa: Services include hearing tests at the Bayshore NHWH — remember, appointments are necessary, so make sure to contact Sarah Adi at 613-325-8848 to secure yours!
COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Information
While our NHWH strives to cater to those who are most in need, the demand for COVID-19 and flu vaccines is high. Residents are encouraged to reach out to their local pharmacies or primary care providers for vaccinations. Check out the list of participating pharmacy locations on the official Ontario government website.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Immunization
For parents of infants born in 2024, we provide RSV antibody immunizations for those who don’t have a pediatrician. This initiative is vital during the RSV season, ensuring your child’s protection against this viral infection. Note: Unfortunately, RSV vaccines for older adults are not available through NHWH.
School-Based Routine Vaccinations
Make sure your children are ready for school with the required vaccinations! NHWH offers these essential immunizations for children aged two months to 17 years, especially those who lack a family doctor or OHIP.
Why Wait? Your Health Matters!
Take advantage of the many resources offered at your local Neighbourhood Health and Wellness Hub. Whether you’re seeking services for yourself or your family, Ottawa Public Health is dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to the health services they need to thrive.
