Mikey Madison, fresh off her stunning Oscar win for Best Actress, is choosing to skip an adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

Sources have revealed to Variety that the talented actress was offered a role in the much-anticipated new ‘Star Wars’ movie, directed by the acclaimed Shawn Levy—known for his work on ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Wolverine’—but has decided to pass on the opportunity.

The screenplay for this untitled film has been crafted by Jonathan Tropper, the creative mind behind hits like ‘This Is Where I Leave You’ and ‘The Adam Project’. Notably, it will star Ryan Gosling, marking a unique collaboration for Levy who has also directed Gosling’s fellow Canadian star, Ryan Reynolds.

Set to be a standalone project, this movie won’t be tied to the Skywalker Saga, which wrapped up with 2019's ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.’ However, details about the plot remain tightly under wraps, leaving fans eagerly guessing.

This film will follow ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu,’ which is the first ‘Star Wars’ movie to receive the green light in over five years. That project recently wrapped principal photography and is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026.

Madison, who is just 24, has already made a name for herself with standout roles in FX’s ‘Better Things’ and the films ‘Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood’ and ‘Scream 5.’ Her role in Sean Baker’s ‘Anora’ was a pivotal moment in her career, as it was the first project for which she didn’t need to audition.

Reflecting on her journey, Madison shared on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast how exhausting auditions can be, saying she has a folder filled with hundreds of submissions. Yet, she’s excited for the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead after her Academy recognition.

As we await her next move, one thing is certain: Mikey Madison’s star is only set to rise!
