Mark Your Calendars: Free Community Event on Hepatitis!
On Friday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., come to Welland Hospital and discover crucial information about hepatitis, as Niagara Health hosts a free community event in honor of Canadian Viral Hepatitis Elimination Day!
Get Tested and Access Resources
This event offers a unique chance for attendees to learn about the Hepatitis C Care Clinic, receive complimentary private hepatitis C testing, and connect with essential addiction and mental health services right in your community.
Ryan Blodgett, Clinical Supervisor of Addiction Services, emphasizes the importance of such gatherings: "We create a space for individuals to gather vital information and resources that empower them to take charge of their health. If you think you may have been exposed, now’s the time to get tested. Your health matters!"
A Recurring Commitment to Awareness
This marks Niagara Health’s third annual celebration of Canadian Viral Hepatitis Elimination Day, complementing a long-standing tradition with World Hepatitis Day at Montebello Park, St. Catharines, scheduled for Friday, July 25.
Understanding Hepatitis C: Act Now!
Did you know that hepatitis C spreads primarily through infected blood? If ignored, it can escalate to severe health issues like cirrhosis, liver failure, and even liver cancer. Fortunately, early testing and effective treatments make it curable.
Join Healthcare Professionals for Support
At our health and social services fair, registered nurses and outreach workers from the Hepatitis C Care Clinic will be on-site alongside local community partners to provide valuable resources and emotional support.
As Karen Usick, Registered Nurse, puts it: "Education is essential to preventing hepatitis C. Everyone deserves to live a healthy and informed life." Since opening in 2011, Niagara Health’s Hepatitis C Care Clinic has been dedicated to delivering comprehensive, compassionate care for our community.
Don’t Miss Out!
We warmly invite everyone to the Welland Hospital on May 9 for this opportunity to learn, connect, and take proactive steps towards a healthier future.
