In a disturbing turn of events, Toronto police are on the hunt for a 30-year-old man believed to have stabbed a brave individual who tried to intervene during a violent assault on Thursday night.
The incident unfolded around 9 p.m. inside a home located near Torresdale Avenue and Robert Hicks Drive in North York. What began as a verbal dispute quickly escalated into a physical confrontation involving the suspect and a victim known to him.
As the situation intensified, a bystander stepped in, only to be viciously stabbed by the assailant. The suspect fled the scene moments before police arrived.
Fortunately, both the male and female victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, though their ordeal was nothing short of alarming.
Public Safety Assured: Authorities Call Incident Isolated
In a statement released Friday, police assured the community that this appears to be an isolated incident, emphasizing there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Benjamin, is facing multiple charges, including assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault. He stands approximately five-foot-eight with a medium build and black hair.
Authorities are urging anyone who might come across Benjamin not to approach him and to contact the police immediately. The manhunt continues as officers are determined to bring this dangerous individual into custody.
