Microsoft Roll Out New Storage Limits for M365!
Attention all Microsoft 365 users! Starting September 3, 2025, significant changes are coming to your OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook storage. Microsoft has officially announced institution-wide storage limits affecting all education users globally, including those at the University of Manitoba.
What You Need to Know About the New Limits
These new guidelines mean you'll need to keep a closer eye on your files and emails. The new storage quotas are as follows: - **Faculty and Staff:** 100 GB for Email, 100 GB for OneDrive, and 50 GB for SharePoint/Teams. - **Students:** 50 GB for Email, 25 GB for OneDrive, and 50 GB for SharePoint/Teams.
Don’t Get Locked Out!
Once you hit 80% of your storage limit, Microsoft will notify you within the applications. Exceeding your limit will restrict your ability to send emails or convert your documents to 'Read Only' mode until you free up space.
A Grace Period to Clean Up Your Digital Space!
You have a generous six-month grace period to assess and trim down your files and emails, with a deadline of February 28, 2026, to comply with the new limits. If you're currently over your quota, you’ll receive an additional 25 GB temporarily to aid your cleanup efforts!
