In an exhilarating twist of events behind the scenes of Apple TV+'s new series "The Studio," legendary director Martin Scorsese proved he’s not just a master filmmaker but also an engaging actor. When he stepped into the role as himself in the pilot episode, his presence electrified the set!

During an exclusive chat with *People*, co-creators Evan Goldberg and Alex Gregory shared that Scorsese had a minor critique that he held onto, demonstrating both his humility and deep respect for the creative process. After filming a challenging scene alongside Charlize Theron, which required an astonishing ten takes, Scorsese admitted he thought they were 'doing it wrong' but refrained from stepping in as a 'backseat director.'

Goldberg, who directed the episode featuring Scorsese, recalled, "It was a moment where he and Charlize were whispering to each other, and I just had to know what they were discussing. When I asked what was going on, he casually revealed, 'I knew you were doing this wrong, but I didn’t want to interfere.'" This exchange underscored Scorsese’s graciousness, opting to let the directors steer their creative vision.

Gregory noted the palpable excitement that spread across the set upon realizing that the iconic filmmaker was there, reflecting on how surreal it was for everyone involved. "We were truly shocked that Martin Scorsese was actually in the show," he said.

Goldberg couldn’t hold back his admiration for Scorsese's performance, exclaiming, "Unanimously, Martin Scorsese as an actor was unbelievable!" The dynamic ensured that the atmosphere was charged with awe. He also expressed a slight apprehension leading up to Scorsese’s arrival: "We kept thinking, ‘He’s going to cancel. It’s too amazing. It’s too special.’ But he came through for us. He’s just the best."
