Gemini Live Unveils Sleek New Interface Ahead of Astra Launch!
As excitement builds for the upcoming Astra video and screen-sharing features set to debut later this month, Gemini Live is stepping up its game with a sleek, more compact interface tailored for Android users.
Gone are the cumbersome large circular buttons! The “Hold” and “End” buttons have been redesigned into snazzy pill-shaped icons, now standing at half their former height. Initially centered on the screen, these buttons will shift to the right side once the video and screen-sharing icons arrive, providing a fresh and user-friendly look.
In a move to maximize space, Google has also eliminated text labels from the buttons, opening up the top section for enhanced visibility of the “Talk Live with” feature and Astra’s anticipated video feed. Android users can get a first glimpse of this revamped Gemini Live UI in the latest Google app beta version 16.10.
But that’s not all! In an exciting update, Google disclosed that Deep Research functionality is now fully available on mobile devices. This comes right on the heels of an announcement stating that the company has doubled the number of monthly reports accessible to Gemini users at no extra charge—though specific figures have yet to be revealed.
Additionally, Google is rolling out its new 2.0 Flash Thinking experimental model, boasting improved efficiency and speed, along with greater access to applications (eliminating the need for a separate “with apps” version) and the ability to upload files. Users will also notice enhanced availability of the Personalization feature.
While the new features are being widely adopted across desktop and mobile platforms, not all Gemini users currently enjoy access to the free Gems service.
With the Astra launch just around the corner, all eyes will be on Gemini Live as it sets the stage for an upgraded video conferencing experience. Stay tuned for more updates!
