A Surprising Split for the Foo Fighters

In an unexpected twist, Foo Fighters have officially parted ways with drummer Josh Freese, just two years after bringing him on board to replace the late Taylor Hawkins. The news hit Freese like a bolt from the blue.

The Phone Call That Changed Everything

Freese disclosed that during a recent phone call, the band informed him of their decision to 'go in a different direction' with their drummer. In an emotional Instagram post, he expressed his shock and disappointment over the sudden change, stating, "No reason was given. Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage and I support whatever they feel is best for the band."

Reflecting on His Journey

Having spent 40 years as a professional drummer, Freese admitted that he has never experienced being let go from a band before. "I'm not angry – I'm shocked and disappointed," he remarked, adding a touch of humor about his next moves: "Stay tuned for my ‘top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters’ list."

What’s Next for Foo Fighters?

Though Freese never recorded any new material with Foo Fighters, he did hit the road with them supporting their 2023 album, 'But Here We Are,' marking their first release after Hawkins' tragic passing in March 2022. The band is set to kick off their first show of 2025 at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix on October 4, but a replacement drummer has yet to be announced.

Grohl Collaborates with Ed Sheeran!

In related news, Ed Sheeran revealed on social media that Dave Grohl will play drums on a song for the upcoming racing film 'F1,' which stars Brad Pitt. Sheeran teased a snippet on Instagram, where he shared, "Sneak peek of the song I did for the F1 movie. Mayer on guitar, Grohl on drums. A lot of fun making this, coming out next month with the movie." Expect the track titled 'Drive' to be part of the soundtrack releasing on June 27.
