Father Sentenced to 31 Years to Life for Orchestrating the Murder of Rapper PnB Rock

In a shocking turn of events, Freddie Trone, a 42-year-old man, was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison for his role in the murder of Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock. Trone was convicted of sending his 17-year-old son to rob and kill the artist while PnB Rock dined at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles in September 2022.

The sentencing was delivered by Judge Connie Quinones in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday. A jury found Trone guilty on multiple counts, including murder, robbery, and conspiracy. Evidently, Trone's son entered the restaurant and fatally shot the rapper, whose real name was Rakim Allen, in an act fueled by his father's directives. At the time of the incident, PnB Rock was dining with the mother of his daughter, further underscoring the tragic nature of the crime.

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón expressed heartfelt condolences to Rakim Allen's family, friends, and fans, highlighting the senseless violence that took Allen's life far too soon. "His life was cut short by an act of violence that no family should have to endure," Gascón stated.

The defense, however, is seeking to appeal the conviction, contending that there is no credible evidence that Trone planned the murder or was aware that his son was armed. Trone's attorney, Winston McKesson, criticized the judge's decision and suggested that the jury's understanding of the evidence may have been compromised. He plans to file a notice of appeal, emphasizing Trone's alleged lack of involvement in the planning of the robbery-murder.

In an emotional moment in court, Deannea Allen, the mother of PnB Rock, expressed her disbelief and heartbreak. "I do not understand how a parent could directly put their child in danger. That one action had a ripple effect, and it has ruined many lives," she said, reflecting on the impact of her son's untimely death. PnB Rock was not just a musician; he was a beloved figure in his family and community, known for hits like "Selfish" and collaborations with artists including Ed Sheeran and Chance the Rapper.

Trone's son, now 19, has also been charged with murder but currently remains in the juvenile system, as a judge has ruled him incompetent to stand trial at this time.

This heartbreaking case sheds light on the tragic consequences of crime intertwined with family dynamics and raises questions about parental responsibility. PnB Rock, who was only 30 years old at the time of his death, leaves behind a legacy of music that has touched many hearts and a family grappling with an unimaginable loss.
