After a four-year hiatus, Google is finally gearing up to unveil an exciting refresh of its Nest camera lineup. This update promises to deliver enhanced video quality, improved digital zoom capabilities, and impressive hardware upgrades.

Back in 2021, Google introduced its first new Nest hardware since taking control of the brand, featuring indoor and outdoor cameras along with a new doorbell. While the initial lineup had its moments, it hasn’t kept pace with the rapid advancements made by competitors. With recent price hikes, customers have been left wanting more.

What’s New in the Nest Lineup?

Thanks to leaks from Android Headlines, we now have a sneak peek at what’s in store. The revamped lineup includes a new wired outdoor Nest Cam, an indoor Nest Cam, and a wired Nest Doorbell. Surprisingly, there’s no word yet on any new battery-powered options—an unexpected absence in this update.

Visually, the new devices remain loyal to their predecessors’ designs but will feature fresh color options. The indoor camera introduces a chic 'Hazel' green and a bold 'Berry' red, while maintaining the classic white. The outdoor version retains the same white but offers the new 'Hazel' as well, which is now exclusive to multi-camera packs. The doorbell will come in 'Hazel', white, and a new beige 'Linen' variant.

Stunning Video Quality and New Features!

The standout upgrade comes in video quality, with Google making the leap to 2K HDR from the previous 1080p. This new capability includes a remarkable 6x digital zoom, allowing you to hone in on specific areas of your video feed. Additionally, local storage will still be available, enabling up to an hour of captured footage during internet outages.

Moreover, video previews are reportedly expanding to three hours, continuing a trend from the 2021 release that allows temporary video clips for non-subscribers.

The Future of Google Nest: A New Subscription Service!

In a significant shift, Google plans to replace the 'Nest Aware' subscription with 'Google Home Premium'. This new service will not only provide cloud backup but also offer advanced features related to the upcoming Gemini smart speaker, including a 'daily recap' of footage from your cameras.
